BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO (U) Ltd emerged the overall winner and took home the “Exporter of The Year 2002” Platinum Award.

10 Exporters won Gold Awards.


21 won Silver Awards and 41 received Certificates of Recognition.


The PEA event took place at Speke Resort Munyonyo on 5th December 2003. It was attended by over 300 Guests which included exporters, representatives of the private sector, representatives of the donor community in Uganda, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Uganda’s Ambassadors and Government and public officials.

The function was presided over by the Minister of Economic Monitoring in the Office of The President, Hon Omwony Ojok who represented the President.

He was accompanied by five other Ministers who included, The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Office of the President, Hon Nsaba Buturo, The Minister of State for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon Sebunya Kibirige, The Minister of State for Trade, Hon Dr. Richard Nduhura, The Hon. Minister of State for Planning, Hon. Isaac Musumba and The Minister of State for Tourism, Hon Jovino Akaki who represented The Minister of Tourism Trade and Industry.

Awards, ranging from “Certificates of Recognition” to “Platinum” were won by 74 companies and individuals in different categories.
