UGANDA EXPORTS

INTRODUCTION

Uganda exports a whole range of products classified under Traditional and Non-Traditional Exports. The major exports are as follows: -

1. TRADITIONAL EXPORTS
These are products which have historically featured as, and been the mainstay of the export menu of Uganda as primary/raw material exports. These are:

I) Coffee
II) Tea
III) Cotton
IV) Tobacco

2. NON-TRADITIONAL EXPORTS:

These are export products other than the unprocessed Traditional Exports. These include: -

I) Agricultural products

i) Crops: Organic and non-organic
fruits: (fresh/dried): bananas, apple bananas, plantains (matooke), pineapples, avocados, passion fruits, mangoes, jack fruits, pawpaw, sugarcane

vegetables: (fresh/dried): okra, dudhi, onion, mushrooms, French beans, egg plant, tomatoes, asparagus, potatoes, Asian vegetables

spices: chillies (birds eye, scotch bonnet, cayenne, bullet) vanilla, ginger, papain

cut flowers: roses, chrysanthemums, plant cuttings

oil seeds: soya beans, sorghum, sunflower, groundnuts, mustard, sesame, timothy grass, sugar beet,

cereals and pulses: beans, maize, rice, wheat

essential oils: citronella, eucalyptus, ginger, peppermint, geranium

ii) Animals and animal products
live animals: sheep, goats, chicken (day old chicks)

honey and beeswax

fish: chilled/frozen/dried whole fish, Tilapia. Nile perch, live ornamental fish, mukene (rastina)

silk cocoons

cattle by products: cow gallstones, horns, Ox gall

II) Manufactured /Processed Products

i) Drinks & Tobacco

ii) Processed Foods
Beef and beef products
fish by products: fish fillets, fish maws, bladder, fish meal, fish oil, fish skins,

dairy & produce: pasteurized milk, UHT milk, ice cream, yoghurt, butter, cheese, ghee
milled grain flour: wheat, maize, millet, soya
processed spices
edible oil: vegetable and animal oil
confectionery: biscuits, bread, jams, fruit juices, marmalades and nut pastes, sugar.
animal feed: cotton seed cake, wheat bran

iii) Textiles, clothing & footwear
textiles, garments & apparel
shoes & bags
blankets
leather: cows, sheep goats tanned leather, finished and wet blue leather, fish leather, crocodile skin (sustainable farm)
silk products

iv) Paper products
paper products: toilet paper, tissue paper, books,
printed materials: labels, banners, posters, brochures, corrugated cardboard boxes

v) Chemicals & products
chemicals: industrial chemicals, acids, caustic soda, fertilizers, paints
bar Soap & liquid detergents
foam products & mattresses
plastic products: plastics containers (buckets, jerry cans, buckets, bowls, plates, food containers, crates etc), pens, tooth brushes, mugs, straws, bags, sacks, mats
polystyrene boxes

vi) Pharmaceuticals

cosmetics pyrethrum extracts empty gelatine capsules

human pharmaceutical products veterinary pharmaceuticals

vii) Building Materials
cement
roofing sheets (corrugated, galvanized, pre-painted

viii) Wood

ix) Metal Products
aluminium products: aluminium & steel doors & windows, kitchenware, lanterns
iron & steel products: iron rods and bars, angles nails, barbed wire, chain links, hand tools, hoes, farm tools, hoes, wheel barrows, food processing equipment (maize mills, coffee hurlers, etc), furniture
cables: Conductors, cables (underground), automobile cables, welding cables, domestic cables and cords

x) Miscellaneous
vehicle parts: batteries, brake pads and brake linings
