BACKGROUND
UEPB
is a public trade promotion organization which operates under
the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry. It was established
by Parliamentary Statute No. 2 of 1996, which repealed the
Uganda Export Promotion Council (UEPC) Act No.7 of 1983. The
1983 Act had previously repealed Parliamentary Act 17 of 1969,
which established the original Uganda Export Promotion Council.
The
restructuring, rationalization and rebirth of UEPB was in
response to the dynamic changes and needs of the business
environment, occasioned by the Government’s commitment
to the establishment of a free market export-led economy.
THE
VISION OF THE BOARD
The vision of UEPB is - To brand Uganda on the
world market as a supplier of reliable and quality export
products with a view to earning substantial foreign exchange
to enable the country achieve and sustain its growth and development
goals.
THE
MISSION OF THE BOARD
The mission of UEPB is - To facilitate the development,
diversification, promotion and co-ordination of all export
related activities that lead to export growth on a sustainable basis

THE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
UEPB
has a 12-member Board of Directors half of who including the
Chairman are from the private sector.
The Board is constituted as follows: -
a) Chairman-Private Sector
b) one representative of Uganda Manufacturers Association-Private
Sector
c) one representative from Uganda National Chamber of Commerce-Private
Sector
d) one representative of Uganda National Farmers’ Association-
Private Sector
e/f) two representatives of Exporters Associations- Private
Sector
g) one representative of Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry-
Public Sector
h) one representative of Ministry of Finance.- Public Sector
i) one representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs- Public
Sector
j) one representative of Ministry of Agriculture- Public Sector
e) one representative of Uganda Investment Authority- Public
Sector
f) the Executive Director, Uganda Export Promotion Board -
Public Sector

ORGANIZATIONAL
STRUCTURE
An Executive
Director (ED) heads UEPB and reports to the BOARD
OF DIRECTORS. The ED is assisted
by Departmental Directors.
The departments are: -
Ø Market and Product Development Division
(MPDD).
Ø Promotion and Public Relations Division
(PPRD).
Ø Management Information Service Division
(MISD).
Ø Finance and Administration Division
(FAD).
The Departments work through Sections and Desks
